Freedom Food Pantry is a ministry of Denton Freedom House, created to meet immediate physical needs while pointing people toward lasting hope. We provide emergency food assistance to individuals and families in Denton County who are facing food insecurity, financial hardship, or homelessness.

Location:

1720 W University STE 101

Denton, TX 76201

(next door to Subway.  See map below)

We operate one of the largest client‑choice food pantries in Denton County, allowing families to select food that best meets their needs and dignity—just as they would in a grocery store. Unlike most pantries, we are open five days a week, ensuring consistent access to food for those who need it most.

What truly sets Freedom Food Pantry apart is our connection to Denton Freedom House’s (DFH) residential discipleship programs. In addition to food assistance, DFH offers both a men’s home and a women’s home for individuals seeking to break free from homelessness, addiction, and life‑controlling struggles through a Christ‑centered discipleship program. The pantry serves as a vital point of connection—meeting immediate needs while opening the door to long‑term transformation.

What to Expect When You Arrive – Anyone in need is welcome to register in person—no appointment required. We strive to make every visit welcoming, respectful, and judgment‑free. Client information is kept confidential and is never shared. It is used only for required reporting to the Tarrant Area Food Bank (TAFB) to ensure we can continue meeting community needs. For faster check‑in, guests are encouraged to bring a scannable ID, though our priority is always to serve people with compassion and dignity.

Why Donors Partner With Freedom Food Pantry

When donors support Freedom Food Pantry, they are doing more than feeding families—they are investing in restoration, dignity, and hope. Every dollar and food donation helps eliminate the fear of hunger, supports one of the most accessible food pantries in the county and strengthen a ministry that combines practical assistance with life-changing discipleship.

    Do you provide meals?

No, this is a client-choice pantry for clients to pick up food items to cook.

What if I am homeless and can’t cook meals?

Part of the registration process helps us understand the client’s ability to cook. specific ready-made items are given to those who have limitations on their ability to cook meals.

Can I volunteer at the pantry?

If you can work during our hours during the week, are able to lift up to 50lbs and can dedicate at least 4 hours at a time, then you are encouraged to fill our a volunteer application here.

Is it better to donate money or food?

while we can take canned or sealed food that is not expired, we can do more with the money we receive than a typical shopper. This is possible because of our partnership with TAFB. This partnership allows us to “stretch” each dollar further and purchase a lot more food than what can be purchased at a grocery store.
